Welcome to Acton Dental Associates
Proud to be your family’s dental “home” for gentle, quality dentistry
At Acton Dental Associates, highly personalized and warm, friendly care is not history. We are privileged to provide an “old-fashioned” approach to caring for our patients in Acton, Massachusetts, while also providing them with the latest, greatest, and safest dental services. This combination of advanced techniques and technologies, and relationship-building, supports our ability to “specialize in smiles.” Just a few of the ways that our dentists, get patients smiling confidently and painlessly again include:
- Gentle diagnostics and tools – We have minimized or eliminated many common sources of dental fear, such as the sensation and noise of the dental drill and the sights and “pinch” associated with needles. We have accomplished this with the likes of air abrasion drill-less dentistry and safe, non-invasive digital x-rays and intraoral cameras. The latter two tech examples also have the added benefit of accurately detecting early-stage problems when they are easiest to resolve quickly, conservatively, and non-traumatically. If patients need a little additional “support,” we also offer relaxing sedation such as “laughing gas.”
- High-quality dentistry for all family members, at every life stage – Our patients benefit from products and services that are clinically proven to be safe and effective at resolving a range of health, functional, and cosmetic problems. Our cosmetic options include durable, conservative porcelain veneers that look like natural teeth and whitening technology that lifts stains. Restorative procedures include inlays and onlays as tooth-preserving alternatives to full-coverage crowns and the “gold standard” in tooth replacement: dental implants. We have the training and capabilities to handle every step in the process in-house, including strategic, precision placement of each implant.
- Proactive, preventive care – This is where our warm approach and inviting surroundings come into play; patients of all ages feel comfortable with us, and they trust us. They keep coming back to our office for the exams and professional cleanings necessary to maintain oral health, function, and an attractive smile. During these appointments, we may recommend professional preventative services such as dental sealants (for decay-prone pre-molars and molars) and oral appliances like custom mouthguards to protect the teeth, jaws, and other oral tissues from injuries caused by playing sports.
Our proactive approach to dentistry is generally a less time-consuming, more comfortable, and affordable alternative to conventional dentistry that reacts to existing problems rather than prevents them. Reactionary dentistry is generally more costly and invasive. Our team is also happy to discuss our no-strings-attached in-house membership plan for patients who are anxious about the dental bill. It is not insurance. You are entitled to many routine services and considerable discounts on procedures ranging from veneers to implants for one reasonable and predictable fee. It is an excellent value.

Obstructive sleep apnea. O S A occurs when your body stops breathing multiple times throughout the night while sleeping due to the narrowing of the airway. Snoring and mouth breathing is the most common indications. Obstructive sleep apnea causes stress in the mouth and throughout the body. The most common side effects of obstructive sleep apnea are teeth grinding or clenching, and serious systemic issues such as sinus congestion and infections due to restricted nasal breathing, daytime fatigue, depression, or mood swings, high blood pressure, neck pain, headaches, stroke, and more. The first step when treating obstructive sleep apnea is to take a sleep test, either at a sleep lab or home to medically diagnose which level mild, moderate, or severe of obstructive sleep apnea. Even though the most common treatment is a CPAP machine, which can be loud, uncomfortable, and difficult to travel with, a dental solution similar to a night guard, is called a mandibular advancement device. M A D. This device will advance the jaw forward while you sleep, opening your airway, and allowing more oxygen and less stress throughout your body. After wearing the device at night, a retainer in the morning called an AM aligner may be necessary to realign the bite. There are other dental procedures such as a lip and tongue tie release that allows the upper lip to not to be as tight to allow the nostrils to flare when breathing and the tongue to move freely in the mouth, keeping it from moving backward, opening the airway while you sleep. Myofunctional therapy. A form of physical therapy is needed before and after the procedure to help heal and avoid muscle reattachment. Your provider will guide which dental option is best for you. Treating sleep apnea leads to lower stress throughout your mouth and body leading to a healthier life.

The future of orthodontics is here. Introducing Ortho FX nighttime, the first F D A cleared aligner system for night only wear experience the first hyper elastic polymer system that reduces daily wear to nine hours without increasing treatment duration.
